Assembly of First Nation’s (AFN) National Youth Summit

2016-07-12

The week of July 10th is a busy one for over 200 First Nations Youth attending the Assembly of First Nation’s (AFN) National Youth Summit in Niagara Falls.  The Youth Summit is being held in advance of this year’s Annual General Assembly July 12-14th, which will be hosted by the Six Nations of the Grand River in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Indigenous youth have a fundamental role in shaping the future of their communities and this country.  The youth from over 150 First Nations from across Canada will come together to focus on key priorities and issues around mental wellness, and broader social determinants of health.  The National Aboriginal Initiative of the Canadian Human Rights Commission is honored to be hosting a workshop at this important event.  Our workshop “Become a Human Rights Defender” aims to build skills to promote and protect Human Rights through interactive game and role play.  For live updates follow the Youth Summit’s hashtag #AFNYouthSummit on Twitter or Facebook.

The NAI is also honoured to be an observer at the AFN’s 37th AGA; and we look forward to hearing from all those in attendance.  For more information or to watch live.
